Tryout Info Meeting
January 22nd RV Auditorium 7pm
RV Cheer Philosophy
The main focus of the Ralston Valley High School Spirit Squads is to support athletics and the RVHS student body. We also, secondarily, participate in competition. The actual time spent at an athletic event is a very small amount compared to your overall commitment if you are chosen to be a member of the cheerleading or pom squad at RVHS. Your actions, reactions, manner, conduct, and judgment should all positively reflect pride in your school, yourself, and your squad. People will judge the squads by what you do or don’t do in the hall and classrooms of RVHS. It’s our goal to have spirit squads that reflect the very best of Ralston Valley High School. Our commitment in upholding the policies of this team is a vital part of our success.
To maintain high academics
To support school athletic teams and activities
To build a spirit program that is respected, positive and fun

Students making the squad must meet CHSAA athletic eligibility and have a yearly physical.
Cheer requires a serious time commitment. Attendance at scheduled practices is mandatory. Practice will be scheduled in advance and athletes must make arrangement to be there. Athletes will not be excused from practices for anything other than illness or an emergency. In those cases, a parent note is needed to excuse the absence.
Fall Semester – 4-5 practices daily practice; 1 to 3 games a week until Winter Break
Spring Semester – practice 4-5 times a week until Nationals; 1 to 3 games per week until Spring Break
Practices begin in the Spring. A physical must be completed before an athlete is eligible to practice.
It is the responsibility of the squad members to make sure that they have transportation to every practice, game, and event. If a squad member is not seventeen, he or she cannot drive another student to an away school event. If you are under the age of seventeen, you will need to have a parent permission form filled out that allows you to travel with someone over the age of seventeen.
